Doping Allegations: Jannik Sinner's Fate Hangs in the Balance
The Upcoming Hearing
World number one Jannik Sinner will confront doping accusations at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on April 16-17.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed after the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) cleared Sinner despite two positive tests for the banned steroid clostebol.
Sinner's Explanation
Sinner insists the drug entered his system through a spray used by his physio to treat a cut.
"I've always been very, very careful on every single medicine I take, even what I eat," Sinner stated.
"When the bottle is open, I throw it away, I take a new one."
Expert Perspective
Former world number one Novak Djokovic supports Sinner's claim of contamination but critiques the lack of transparency throughout the investigation.
"We've been kept in the dark for five months," Djokovic said.
ATP's Stance
ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi asserts that the investigation followed proper protocol.
"The process has been run by the book and according to the rules," Gaudenzi claimed.
